February 2024 Melissa's craft room remodel and Valentine's Day

Feb 1 - Could you start the month any better? 9:30 AM and Finn is reading Lily a book.

While Hannah is reading to herself in the other room.  If only this happened EVERY morning!  The kids have all made lots of progress in their reading.  Hannah will now spend the whole of quiet time, and beyond, just reading to herself in her room.  Finn has just started reading out loud to Lilian and Lilian practices a book each week to pass off to Melissa.

Feb 3 - It is Saturday and we're making lots of progress emptying the office.

Feb 5 - After Andy pulled the carpet, Finn helped vacuum all the dirt and fuzz left behind.

Feb 9 - Lilian wants to be "a police" when she grows up.  She always gets excited when Chief Bradford wears his uniform to church and sits behind us.  So Melissa set up a homeschool group tour of the police station.  The kids and moms had fun, and even got to see all the stuff in the back of the squad car.

Feb 10 - Rob Lyman and I have worked on lots of projects in the past couple of years, usually at his house (because he's actively remodeling).  He always wants to return the favor and he knows way more about electrical than me!  So he came to help me install all the new lights in the craft room, then we sprayed a bunch of insulation in the attic to hopefully keep the room more comfortable.

Feb 11 - Sunday after church.  Sometimes the only way to silence these hooligans is a good book.

Feb 12 - Homeschool Sum Swamp.

Feb 14 - Happy Valentine's Day!  Melissa made them new crocheted stuffies. Snake, Jelly 2 (modeled after Jelly, who was given to Great grandma Clift at Thanksgiving) and a pink penguin.

Then Melissa hosted the homeschool group for a Valentine's party in the basement.

Feb 17 - We needed to visit Ikea for craft room supplies, so we decided it was about time to revisit the temple where we were sealed.  13 years later, the Draper temple was still there! We completed a sealing session, then headed to Ikea to pick up stuff. Thanks Nana for babysitting.

That evening Adam and Jeanette, Marissa and her boyfriend came over to Grandad's for a raclette party, yum!

Feb 20 - Back home and Finn has written a prescription for Mom, "bad gall-bladder, must remove"

Feb 23 - Enjoying a sunny day on the dirt hill, painting all the stumps.

Feb 24 - Saturday means workday! I'm screwing in countertop while Lilian vacuums out saw dust from the last section I fastened in.

Hannah and Finn screwing in draw slides.

Feb 26 - Sunday afternoon hike around White Rocks, Lily is much more comfortable near the edge than Melissa!

Always the photographer, rarely the subject.  Thanks for the picture Melissa.

Feb 26 - While I was at the clinic Melissa built the Ikea table all herself.

And a couple of hours later, Lilian drew a big H in pen across the top, "because the papers weren't big enough." When I got home from work, Lily and I sanded the pen off.

Feb 27 - Homeschool writing project about swamps.

Feb 29 - LEAP DAY!  That means 366 days this year for tumbling rocks!
