March 2020 The twins turn 4 years old!

Lilian learning to climb the plastic rock wall at the Visitor's Center Park.    Grandma Workman brought home this little red dog from Great Grandma Clift's house.  Melissa remembered playing with it when she was little, and Lilian likes pulling it around Grandma's house now.  Time to start pouring the countertops.  It was lots and lots of buckets, each at a slightly different consistency.  It took a while to really decide what was too wet and what was just right.   After unmolding a couple days later.  We had little bubbles in the edges and didn't have the surface of the peninsula as smooth as hoped.  Just too much flex and movement in the overhang.  We decided it would be fun to hit the Canyon Country Family Discovery Center in Monticello, UT.  It was!  We spent a couple hours working with all the interactive exhibits. This was a giant "light bright." An interactive topographical map projected from above, little wheels on...

February 2020 - Grandpa Clift's funeral

Thank Heaven for library time.  The kids all enjoy it so much and it is a great chance for Melissa to see friends.  February 8th we went for a family hike at the Nations of the Four Corners Dwellings park/trails.  It was a beautiful day, just look at that great San Juan sky.  Short rest in one of the Hogans Lilian taking advantage of the twins being a Miss Lana's preschool for the morning.  No better time to demonstrate her sorting and fine motor skills than when she's home alone with Mom.  Also a good time for demo-ing her latest trick riding skills.  Melissa channeling her former "single girl on Valentine's Day" vibe to help teach the twins about upper and lower case letters.  Hannah's left front upper tooth died... one too many trip and fall incidents.  She came to have a mini root canal (pulpotomy) at Blanding Family dental.  I knew she'd be nervous so during my lunch break I hit the dollar store.  It was fun to surprise her wit...

January 2020, a new year and new experiences

I got a book for Christmas from Melissa with ideas for fun activities to do with the kids.  We decided to start the new year with making homemade ice cream.  Socks did a great job of keeping our fingers warm.  Lilian must have been asleep during the ice cream making, so she decided to freeze her fingers by eating snow a few days later.  Then our furnace died.  Seriously?  The fresh air intake fan broke into a bunch of pieces.  The house was in the 50's when we woke up and each time the furnace would try to kick on and this unbalanced fan would try to spin up... it sounded like a jack hammer outside.  I actually when outside first to find the source before realizing it was the furnace.  Well, we went to Walmart and bought several space heaters (a quick 4 hour trip) and ordered a replacement part online.  I was set to leave town in just a couple days and the part would arrive the day I left.  So Bill agreed to install it.  Bringi...
