Our Little Girl
I realize that it has been forever since I've blogged anything. As most of you know, Andy and I got a dog. She is a beautiful German Shepherd Dog. Her name is Zoe. On Ocober 16th, Andy emailed me and asked me if I wanted a dog because one of his coworker's dog was having puppies that day. Of course I said yes! Waiting 2 months was the hardest thing ever. A couple times we thought of changing our minds, but once we met her, we knew we were going to take her home with us.
This was the first time we met. (2 weeks old)
This was the 2nd time we saw her. (About 4-5 weeks old)
She is the one on the bottom left.
We took her home on the December 8th. She was 4 days shy of 8 weeks, but we wanted to be able to spend time with her on the weekend before we went back to work.
My preschoolers love playing with her, but now she is a little too big.
She likes to jump and play a little too much that she scratches people on accident.
Her ears looked way funny when they started to stand up.
She is getting so big.
When we got her, she weighed about 13 lbs.
She now weighs about 25 lbs.
Life sure changed once we got her. The first week she was like a baby. She woke us up 3 times a night needing to go to the bathroom. We crate trained her. We never get to sleep in anymore! She is promptly awake everyday at 7:30. We had to watch her like a hawk for the first month and a half, so she wouldn't have too many accidents. I'm glad to say that she has been potty trained for the last couple of weeks! We can't leave anything on the ground anymore, especially our shoes or socks. She loves my feet, socks, and shoes the most. At least she doesn't nip at my feet nearly as much as she did at first.
She does keep me somewhat active and gets me outside even on the coldest days. I take her for walks and play with her in the backyard. Recently I learned that she loves to chew on ice. That helps with her wanting to bite something, and I love that it's not me. She has to follow me around everywhere, and sleeps at my feet during the day. She loves giving kisses. She cries when one of us leaves, but gets over it rather quickly. Now we can leave her in the back yard for a few hours at a time. We usually chain her up, so she doesn't go digging in the muddy, garden area, but we put a fence around that today.
We really do love our little (for now) Zoe. She is like our child. I do feel that she is preparing us for the day we are blessed with children of our own.

Zoe is super cute. I love her puppy pictures! I can't help but say "awww!" at each one.
