Our home is surrounded by some seriously beautiful country.

January 11, 2014 Melissa decided to play tour guide.  She had gone to this area with a friend a few weeks earlier and thought I should see it, so there we went.  These photos were taken on Comb Ridge where it crosses the Utah 95 west of Blanding.

Sure it was January, but January in a drought is actually a pretty good time to hike!

The Utah 95 loops down the east side of Comb Ridge and back up the west side.  This is looking over the west side.

We saw a wild mountain dog... wait no, that is Zoe.

A beautiful day with a beautiful girl! Thanks for taking me hiking honey!

January 25th Melissa had a Stake Relief Society activity in the morning.  One of our good friends, Revina, went to the activity and she and Melissa thought we should all hang out afterward.
Revina and her husband Fred thought it was a nice day for a trail ride, so we all headed out to Recapture Wash (just northeast of Bluff, UT).

It was roughly a 20 mile ride, round trip, and some very rewarding spectacles.

Fred and Revina posing with the natural beauty and a couple of their toys.

Melissa and I at the entrance to my new wilderness apartment (see below).

Actually quite roomy behind these walls.

Melissa and Revina getting brave.

Fred and Andy, not as high, but required much more scrambling to get up.

Our next little trip requires something other than a helmet...
