October 2014, pickup the pickup and a very scary Halloween.
First order of business for October? Get the truck. We headed back to Arizona October 3rd to help with clean up weekend at Grandma Flick's cabin and get our truck back.
$15,000 later the truck looks just like it did to begin with. Well, except Melissa's big scratch on the front right fender is gone... because its a new fender. All new fenders, driver door, hood, bumper/grill, cattle/Ford guard and a bunch of new suspension parts.
My girls enjoying a ride.
After visiting the cabin, we came home... and went back in time!
Mrs. Bayless had 80's day at school to celebrate the end of first term and she looked great.
The Monticello temple looked great too, all dressed up for fall.
We spent a day riding up Abajo Peak on the Rhino. We took Zoe and a picnic lunch and had a lot of fun enjoying the colorful leaves.
We stopped in a beautiful meadow for lunch. I rode through here during the "Bayles" reunion I was invited to in July. As soon as I saw it, I wanted to come back with Melissa. We got there, unpacked lunch, wrapped up in a blanket and a man drove through and warned us he'd seen a black bear about 200 yards away headed in our direction. Melissa's flight or fight reflex kicked into flight mode and we got out of there. We never saw the bear, but we kept riding and saw some great views of Blanding and Monticello.
Then I learned how to make clotted cream, an English topping for scones.
Then Melissa participated in her first 5k! The Halloween Costume 5k, put on by the diabetes department at UNHS.
We walked the 5k, along with some other participants, ending at the high school. Melissa was Catwoman, I was Batman and Zoe was Batdog (she wore an emblem on her collar).
Halloween day we got quite a few groups at the house because the ward didn't have a trunk-or-treat this year. It was quite the controversial decision to cancel the trunk-or-treat and I'm half expecting it to come back next year, but we'll see.
