Early Spring (2015) San Juan Explorations.
We started with a trip to Butler Wash Indian Ruins (3/9/15). It is just a 1 mile round trip from the road to the ruins, so it was perfect for an afternoon outing. We spent the morning working around the house and rewarded ourselves with a leg stretch.
There had been recent rain and some of the little rain pools were still wet.
Some of the bigger ones too. Zoe and I dropped down over this little wall to play near the water.
Dog photo-bombed.
The ruins are across a canyon and the trail just leads to a lookout on the near side.
3/29/15 we repeated the hiking and water theme with a walk and a pick nick around our town drinking water reservoirs.
Zoe was quite impressed with how much water was still flowing into reservoir #4 (we returned 4 weeks later and the water level had come all the way up to the frothy mouth of this stream.)
It is a 1.7 mile walk around the reservoir, Zoe chased a stick most of the way.
Look, there is our little town. It is strange, but Blanding sure feels like home.
And our mountains.
The water was about 66 feet deep, when we returned April 24th it was at 71 feet (Zoe and I would have wet feet at that level).
