Ok, this was a weird month, no central theme, no big plans. Just GO, GO, GO! August was what you could call a real month. We dealt with the day to day stuff. Starting with a Miles attack! I was in town for the fertility process (harvest and fertilization of the eggs) and we had a nice family Sunday dinner. Then I drove home, because work was crazy. |
| The garden was getting big. I wanted corn this year and Melissa was nice enough to help me. |
| Melissa stayed in Lindon that week and enjoyed some time with her Aunt Mary Clift. |
| August 6th at 3:50 PM we had 2 tiny white dots placed in Melissa with the hopes that one would stick around and grow up. (spoiler alert: we named the left dot Finley and the right dot Hannah) |
| Melissa is happy to have made it to this point. |
| Our two sets of "text book" embryos. The doctors said the all looked perfect. |
| Melissa came home after a couple princess days and then it was time to get the classroom ready for school |
| Then the good news. There were blood tests too, but nothing like peeing on a stick to predict your future. |
| Our friends the Whatcott's asked us to watch their kids for an evening. After the little ones went to bed, their oldest asked if I would take him to the football field so he could show me his moves. This is how he ended up his first run through the gauntlet. |
| Luckily he had Zoe to lick his wounds and encourage him to get up and try again. |
This is actually a throw back to July 31, but while attending the Utah Governor's Native American Summit, I got to meet the President of the Navajo Nation (Russell Begaye).
August 2015 was an important month, but also a normal one. I worked 40+ hour weeks at UNHS and BMH. We hired a new pharmacist for our clinical program. Melissa worked hard to prepare for another school year. We mowed the lawn, weeded the garden, cooked together (when she wasn't in Lindon), cleaned together, and watched a lot of TV. Melissa and I really lead a charmed life. We have great jobs, a beautiful house, AMAZING friends and neighbors, and wonderful families. We enjoy our church service.* We love each other, and I can truly say that being married to Melissa is the best thing to happen on planet earth in the last 32 years.
*As of writing this blog (3/20/16) a sample of our callings is as listed below:
Andy: Aaronic Priesthood presidencies (Lindon 2nd Ward), Home Teacher (Lindon 2nd, UofU, Lindon 23rd, Blanding 7th) Fulltime Missionary in Brazil, Fortaleza Mission, Assistant Ward Clerk/Finance (Grandview 2nd), Primary Teacher (Lindon 2nd), Nursery Leader/Sunbeams Teacher (Lindon 23rd), Elder's Quorum Teacher (Blanding 7th), Elder's Quorum President (Blanding 7th), Bishopric 2nd Counselor (Blanding 7th).
My favorite calling was as Nursery Leader in Lindon 23rd ward. Melissa and I were serving together and it was really fun to spend the full 3 hour block together. Especially because I was working 60 hours per week between rotations and Macey's Pharmacy. It was also a great calling because we really felt needed. Those little kids loved us. From the one boy who wouldn't come in without me, to the little girl who looked like Rapunzel from Disney's Tangled, it was fun to play with and teach the gospel (30 seconds at a time) to these kids.
Melissa: FHE Co-chair (Foothill YSA Ward, Henderson NV),Visiting Teacher (YSA Ward onward), Fulltime Missionary Texas Houston South Mission, Activities/Institute Committee/Relief Society Chorister (James Hill YSA Ward Kent, WA), Relief Society Secretary/Visiting Teaching Coordinator (various BYU YSA Student wards), Indexing Coordinator (After BYU YSA Ward), Nursery/Sunbeams with Andy, Teach 10-11 yo girls (Blanding 7th ward), Primary 1st Counselor (Blanding 7th Ward), Home Teaching Companion to Andy, High Priests are weird (Blanding 7th ward)
Melissa's favorite calling was the primary presidency 1st counselor. She liked nursery and sunbeams too.
