September 2021 School, Friends and Andy's Birthday

Lilian loved her fieldtrip to the fire department. The twins got to tag along, one of the benefits of homeschooling is being a preschooler and kindergartener at the same time.

Lilian has been doing pretty well with her potty training, so it was time to put away the vinyl flooring, We ended up packing it down to the duplex shed for storage, but before I could get it down there our kids and the Lyman's decided it made a good reading spot.

We had the Lyman girls over while their mother was laboring with their little brother.  The kittens helped keep people entertained.

Grandma Workman started a music program for homeschool on Thursday's much to Grandpa's dismay... "What's that racket?!" he seemed to think as he walked past.

Sunday cuties.

The roof on the duplex shed had been leaking, so it was time to cover it. I was able to cover half of it with leftovers from the house roof repair. Would've been able to do 3/4, but I ended up losing several sheets to a wind storm that bent and tore them.

Hannah is loving her second year of dance and learning to listen and imitate the moves better.

Some days it is difficult to tell, between the screaming and fighting, but these two really do have a special bond.  Finley offered to hold her hand during the "scary parts" of 101 Dalmatians.

While I spent a day putting up fence posts to enclose the garden section with the vinyl fence, the kids came outside for school to write and draw what they could see.

Eventually Finn was done with "book learning" and went to work. He's helping spike down the artificial turf.

Friday 9/17 everyone dressed up in our paw patrol clothes, and went to the movies! Lilian had a few freak-outs, she is so sensitive to the tense bits of even kid movies.

I had a regular day at work on my birthday, a Monday, but Hannah made sure I knew it was a special day when I came home.

Judging from the cake and presents, you'd think I was turning 8, not 38.  I'm fine with that.  Red velvet cake, with chocolate frosting and Oreo crumbs, chocolate squares, and race cars.

My lovely cake decorator.

Hot wheels car shooter, remote control car, work gloves and candy. Happy birthday to me!

Back to school!

Melissa is in love with these kittens, it certainly helps that they bite and scratch me more than her.  Makes her feel somehow superior. Just payback for how Zoe used to chew on Melissa.

Wings are scientifically proven to improve ballerina skills.

Preparing for our Nashville road trip next month.  When you homeschool, a road trip is just a geography and history lesson.

Showing off candy with the Mallory Lyman children after the homecoming parade.

While the family were at the parade, Rob and I were building a custom camping trailer.  He was gifted an old rotten popup and tore it down to the frame.  We rebuilt it in the shop. He wanted a solid trailer with room for 5 to sleep and not much else.

We took a break from building to drive up the mountain in the side by sides and see the leaves changing for a picnic.

Many of us even enjoyed a walk through the mountain tunnel.

Lilian is still building up her hiking muscles.

Pose with the Pioneer.

Rhino running well.

Down from the mountain, a quick quiet time, then off to "Dutch Oven Days" for dinner and playtime.

Sloppy joes, potatoes and beans with Grandma Workman.

Playdate with Braylee after gymnastics.

Surprise squash growing next to Zoe's grave. Owing to the ultimate coincidence we just consumed this squash at Grandma Workman's for dinner on the day of writing this post (11/7/21).
