October 2022 Part 2 Visiting Grandma Flick's cabin and Halloween

On the 20th we went to pickup Grandma in Dewey and then drove to the cabin.  The Finn immediately gathered up the trucks and head to her gravel pile. He dug for the whole weekend and the girls joined him regularly.

10/21 we went to the Monument Peak Trail to ride the Pioneer.  It was a fun easy trail.  It bordered several large homes and one had horses we visited with for a few minutes.

Near that same horse corral was a tree swing.

When we came back to the cabin, we found a bucket on the driveway.  Melissa picked it up... and found the tarantula where Grandma had trapped it.   The kids named it Pickles.  We found later the same day and again the next morning. This was a visit full of animals we saw: mice in the cabin (trapped 2), bunny, squirrel, birds, cows, a mountain king snake and a lizard.

Grandma saved coloring pages for the kids and they all enjoyed some creative time.

Melissa cleaned out the fireplace so we could make smores.

I took the kids down the road to the pump house so we could see where the water had collected.  We tossed rocks and went "fishing" for leaves.

Saturday 10/22, Melissa woke up an invalid.  She could barely walk, she's not smiling because she's happy, she's smiling to keep from crying.  She spent the day with the walker or with Grandpa Jim's cane. It took a week or more for her hips/back to get back to normal.

Finn was digging in the gravel when he seemed to wake this little guy from hibernation.

Game night with Grandma.  They're playing Sequence for Kids.

Sunday, we went to church with Grandma. I blessed the sacrament because their mountain branch doesn't have a lot of priesthood holders. That afternoon Uncle Dale and Aunt Susan came to spend the night and drive grandma home the next day (saving us 4 hours on the road).  Susan was instantly the kids best friend.  That night the kids put on a play for them.  Captain Hook and the Neverland Fairies.

Melissa told the kids about how she remembered hiding in this tree when she was little, so Lilian took a turn.

Can't leave the cabin without a porch picture.

Bonus porch picture with Susan and Dale.  Very grateful to them for saving us the drive to take grandma home, honestly don't know if Melissa would have been able to drive.  I think she hurt her hip by driving grandma's car with the pedals in grandma position, so Melissa had to hold her foot up too high.

NERDS!  Enjoying the mild fall at the library 10/26

Ward trunk or treat. 10/26

USU Halloween carnival 10/27. Peter Pan, Wendy, 2 fairies and Captain Hook.

UNHS 638, 20 year anniversary, Monument Valley grand opening, excuse to visit Fred and Revina.

Finn and Dad after the watermelon eating contest.

Hannah learning CPR.  It was fun to have the family come visit me at work and enjoy the activies.

10/29 Finally pumpkin carving time.  Melissa and the kids grew our pumpkins this year.

Mr Independent, Finn did a lot of his own carving.

Lily let me help a little.

Finally actual Halloween day!  Visiting Grandma Workman, we arrived at the same time as another group so there's one little extra man in the mix.
