August 2023 - Melissa turns 41 and homeschool gets a booster shot.

8/3 - Lily and Dawn playing sum swamp to keep their summer math skills up.

Melissa was watching the Lyman's because Kati started work early with her new Assistant Principle job.

It has been a few years since Finn had a pile of sand in the yard.  We took out the sandstone patio to prepare for concrete and he was very happy for a few days. He even convinced the girls to play in the dirt a few times.

8/4 - Teddy Bear clinic in Blanding.  Melissa had the Lyman girls again, so we were bursting with children.

8/5 - Lily was invited to a water/bouncy house birthday party for one of her preschool friends.

8/7 - Melissa hired a friend's daughter to pull grass out of the flower bed and she found a bird.  Everyone got to give it a little snuggle.  Then Cali the cat ate it the next day.

8/8 I had to stop for a quick photo on the way to MV clinic.  Somebody left a piano at one of the pullouts along the highway, presumably to encourage random people to stop and take a photo.  It worked, luckily I didn't have anyone in my first appointment slot.

Grandma and Grandpa Aurich came to visit for a couple of days/celebrate Melissa's birthday. 8/8 we actually met in Bluff for dinner since I was coming from MV.  Had a birthday dinner at Duke's.

8/9 - So Melissa put them to work moving sand from the old patio to the sandbox before they left town.

8/10 - Happy Birthday Melissa!  Lego sculptures and a massage gun.

Then dinner at the Mexican restaurant in Monticello and churros with cream.

8/12 - Heading to Moab for Goldie's first training lesson.  A three session program to try to improve out family behavior.  We learned a few good tips and have seen a little improvement in her behavior, but it is also frustrating that many of the recommendations are that we need to change our behavior.  Stop walking at night, don't follow the same paths, don't walk as a family, go to more new places, etc.

That evening though Lilian road her bike all the way to Subway...without Goldie!

8/13 - Before dinner we went to White Rocks to expose Goldie to a new place.  She and Melissa triumphed over the rock climb.  41 years young!

Extra birthday at Grandma and Grandpas!

8/14 - Monday Homeschool Coop at the Law's farm. Slip and slide!

After dinner snack!

8/15 - Boom! Homeschool again!  This time on the mountain.  Melissa and the kids weren't sure they wanted to spend another day out, but they jumped in the Pioneer and made it an adventure.  And Lilian and Finn wandered off and hid in a drainage pipe, scaring Melissa out of her mind for a few minutes.

8/16 - Homeschool again! Featuring Daddy School.  Kiwi Crate waterwheel.

8/17 - POOL TIME!

Almost looks like he's just sitting on the lip of the slide.

8/18 - Another day, another homeschool activity! This time at Cassidy's farm/house.

Featuring piglets!

8/20 - Happy Birthday Grandpa!  Hey, that cake looks familiar.  Grandma's Chocolate Zucchini cake is now the official cake of summer birthdays.

8/21 - Monday, the first day of homeschool 2023.  About time, we've been learning stuff all dang month!

Sorry Silly Lily, you make a silly face, it's going in the official record.

8/22 - They begin the bone unit with animal dissections.  Thank you Amazon for plastic and gel animal kits. Frog.

Salamander

Piranha

8/25 - Why on earth did the dollar store already have skeleton's in stock?!  Oh you thought this was just a picture of our lovely kids in the van, check again.

8/26 - We decided to skip the pool and hit the reservoir. Andy and Hannah in the boat, Finn on the floaty.

Melissa and Hannah. Lily was there somewhere too.  Just too busy on the sand to stop for a picture.

8/27 - We decided to ride bikes to dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's. Hannah was really nervous about it, but she did it! Lilian and Finn were going great too.

Grandpa is making some progress on the greenhouse framing.

8/29 - Homeschool field trip to the discovery center in Monticello while Goldie was getting spayed.

They didn't have a cone for her, even though Melissa called ahead to make sure they would.  So we tried pool noodle on the collar for a couple of days before finding a cone from a neighbor. Lilian is comforting Goldie, by showing her a book.

8/30 - Wednesday morning Hannah got to swap her cast for a brace.  10 more days and she'll be done.

8/31 - Homeschool coop back at Cassidy's.
