The rest of October 2024.

10/18 Before Grandma and Grandpa Aurich left town and we ended our vacation we decided to go bowling together. They twins actually threw a couple of balls themselves without the ramp and Lilian couldn't do that so she tried pushing, kicking and rolling on the ramp.

Since the bowling alley is also an A&W everybody got some ice cream. The kids had been worried before our trip that Grandma and Grandpa wouldn't be there when we got home, so it was nice to have a couple extra days with them.

10/19 After saying goodbye to grandparents this Saturday morning, we went to Walter C Lyman Park.  Melissa wants to figure out if there is anyway to build a fairy garden in this park.  This was a scouting mission to check the trees for suitable features.

10/21 Monday evening the twins had a Halloween Recital at church with Haven's piano group.

Finn found a wonderful use for his angler fish costume head.  Snack plate holder.

10/22 Melissa and the kids love spending time on the dirt hill, sometimes it can be a challenge to get outside, but once there.  Shoes off, dirt on!

10/26 Friday. After having something to do every day for a month, Melissa quickly learned that the kids thrive on purpose.  As much as they'll tell you they want to just stay home and build with Lego, getting out is good for their minds.  We drove down to Newspaper Rock State Monument (12 years living in Blanding and this was our first time).  We enjoyed the tiny petroglyph panel, but looking at the lichen samples all over the rocks might have been even more fun.  There were 4-5 different colors and each looked amazing under this portable microscope.

We then went to another small panel slightly further down in Shay Canyon 38°00'34.0"N 109°32'23.8"W

Then walked just a few feet further up the same trail to find dino prints. 38°00'30.6"N 109°32'24.0"W It was fun to find the dinosaur prints "on our own."  A friend told us they were on the trail but we had to watch the ground, walked past them the first time and backtracked.

10/26 Saturday was closer to home, but even more fun.  We met Rob and Mallory's family and hiked Wagon Wheel Trail.  We only went about a mile up the trail to this little creek, but we stayed for about an hour at the kids had lots of fun.

And Melissa got to snuggle her favorite 1 year old, Rebecca.

10/28 Monday, Halloween week begins!

Homeschool group at the Laws' farm.

10/29 Tuesday, pumpkin carving with Grandma Workman

The kids did almost all the carving and cleaning themselves this year.

10/31 Thursday, finally Halloween night arrived. Of course we stopped to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jack for hugs, love and sugar cookies!

We spent almost 3 hours and 2.7 miles trick or treating!  The kids were troopers!  We did end up driving to Grandma and Grandpa Workman, after a whole night on our feet we needed a little break.  Good bye October!
