January 2025 Didn't set foot outside San Juan county, just a month in the life.

January 1st, 2025 - Melissa has decide to make a granny square book blanket this year, made with a square for each book she reads/listens to.

1/8 - Wednesday after lunch, Lilian decided to make a Lego First Vision.  This quiet grove was quite busy with animals coming to meet Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

1/9 - Thursday, I had the day off and we all went to the wellness center to practice Pickleball.  So this is us running around waiting for Hannah to put the soccer ball down.

1/12 - Sunday afternoon trip to ancient Egypt.  Atlas Crate box in Egypt helped us build a Pharaoh's headdress.

1/16 - Thursday homeschool's subject was pandas.  Finn's fact of the day... green poop.

1/17 Friday, the library had a pizza party for the kids who completed their reading logs.  Lilian broke the piñata stick in half with her swing.

1/19 Sunday, no picture, but I promise this really happened.  This Sunday I had a high council assignment to speak in the 5th ward.  That is Grandma and Grandpa Workman's ward.  All three kids agreed to speak with me.  It was a great Sunday and they all did a wonderful job.  Lilian had Melissa's help reading a story from the Friend, Finley read a story on his own and even added a sentence or two at the end and Hannah wrote her own talk (with my help).  It was fun for them to speak in their grandparent's ward.

1/20 - Monday, Rob noticed our living room carpet was wrinkly years ago.  Now that they are planning to move, he decided it was time to stretch it. We pulled up all the perimeter, stretched and retacked.  It really looked better afterward.

1/23 - Thursday, Homeschool hike at Sand Island south of Bluff.  The kids all had a great time playing on the river ice and in the mud.

Melissa brought chalk so they kids could make their own petroglyphs. The park ranger's didn't think that was such a good idea.  It's been almost 2 weeks and we haven't received a court summons yet, so hopefully we're out of the woods!

1/25 - Saturday, I should've made a bigger box!  Melissa is still enjoying her rock tumbler.

1/26 Sunday, Part of this month's homeschool is about pandas, so I made pandas for lunch. I didn't realize the kids had wanted to make their own, so Lilian and Finn are displaying mine and Hannah is displaying hers (after eating mine).

After lunch we went for a hike at White Rocks and down into Westwater canyon.

The creek was frozen over the top and running underneath.  We were out for over an hour, it was great to get some sun and air.

After dinner with Grandma/pa Workman, Hannah got a little help with a song she'd been struggling with.

1/29 - Wednesday, Happy Chinese New Year!  Melissa and the kids made lanterns.

And I took the afternoon off to make Char siu, bao and ham fried rice to celebrate. Melissa and Finn were wearing red for luck., the girls were dressed like pandas.. I didn't get the memo.

1/31 - Friday, Melissa is turning down the ends of dowels to fit into peg board for her crotchet square stretcher to make all the granny squares the same size.

Activity days at Macy's, get to know you activity for the first of the year.

Ending the 31st with dinner and a movie night with the Lyman's.  Both of our families read the Adventures of the Swiss Family Robinson recently so we decided to watch the movie together.  A hyperlocal month, but a very fun one.
