February 2025 - Lots of outdoor play, trip to Lindon and Valentine's Day

Feb 1 - Saturday Melissa watched Rob and Mallory's kids so they could go to the temple.  This was the third day in a row our families were together.

Feb 3 - Emily Laws was caring for a baby goat so Melissa and the kids rushed over to see.  Melissa was able to get it to take a bottle when it had been refusing earlier.

Feb 4 - Tuesday was a nice day ON the reservoir!  Melissa wouldn't walk on the ice, but the kids loved it as they played around with other homeschool friends.

Feb 5 - our friend Lynn Stevens passed away, after more than a year battling cancer.  Lynn and Lynette have been friends as long as we've lived in Blanding.  He was such a wonderful man and we're sad for her loss. Melissa and I attended his funeral about 10 days later.

Feb 6 - Thursday Homeschool trip to Recapture Pockets.  The kids were little desert goats climbing all the rocks.

While Melissa and the mom's stayed rooted to the ground.

Feb 8 - Saturday, That weekend it was up to Lindon for Marisa's wedding.  We attended her ceremony at the Provo City Center temple.  This photo was at the reception that evening.

Cutting the cake with Bradley

Jeanette's daughter Lenore drew this little cat and gave it to Lily.  She loved it!  So at Nana's on Sunday she drew a big picture and gave it to Lenore at dinnertime.

Feb 10 - Monday we went to the Clark Planetarium for a couple of hours.  The kids enjoyed it, with a couple of meltdowns.

Lily got a hold of Melissa's phone that afternoon and took quite a few selfies with her stuffed animals, then ended with this gem.

That night we invited Fred and Mary over for games.

Feb 11 - Tuesday we went to the aquarium.

Lily was so excited to see the clouded leopard active and walking around it's cage!  It passed away later that week from "sudden onset diabetes," so I guess we were even more blessed to see it.

My family got eaten by a megalodon.

And spit out at Scheel's Farris wheel.  The kids received PBS kids activity books from their summer reading program at the library.  All the activities this week came from the coupon book. After riding the wheel we spent over an hour just looking through the store, it was huge.

Happy Valentine's day!  Melissa outdid herself this year with the kids' stuffies.  Jasmine the cat.

A flamingo for Hannah

And a camouflage crocodile for Finn.

Then a classroom party for homeschool

Feb 15 - Saturday, while Hannah took a turn reading the scriptures, Lilian gave me the best snuggle ever.  Not sure what was special that night, but my baby needed a hug.

Feb 17 - Monday, Hannah used her math powers to add 5 digit numbers

And Lily used hers to make a castle with the base ten blocks. .

That night Finn had activity days.  He loves his activities, this night they played glow in the dark soccer!  He gets jealous that the girls meet almost every month and the boys only 5-6 times per year.

Feb 18 - Tuesday was the homeschool Valentine's party, together with a local alternative school called "Life Mission school"

2/21 - Friday night we saw Henry IV by the Utah Shakespearian touring troop.  They came to the high school and the kids really enjoyed it.  Mallory and kids sat in the row behind and Melissa and I juggled Rebecca and Lily for the whole performance!   Rob moved to Layton to start a new job at a foot and ankle ortho clinic.  He hated his job at BMH and needed to go for his sanity. It has been lonely since Rob left last month.  He's a great friend and we've tried to continue going walking on Tuesday nights by phone, but phone calls are not as good as in-person.  Long-distance relationships aren't easy.

Feb 22 - Saturday, Lilian had a small padlock she got from a playdate, and after asking "do you have anything I can lock up?" I knew I had better build her a treasure box if I didn't want that lock finding its way to something of mine. We spent a few hours in the shop and she loves her pirate treasure box.

Feb 23 - Sunday. A few weeks ago Lilian told me that I was "almost the best cook in the world," but I couldn't be the best because I couldn't make beignets.  Challenge accepted!  This Sunday Melissa's mom had a potluck in her ward, so we joined them for dinner at church.  Lily sat with a bunch of other little girls at another table and I could overhear her explaining that "they aren't donuts, their beignets... they come from New Orleans and my dad made them."  After the meal we discussed my new status.  The beignets were only as good as the second place we had them in New Orleans, not the first, but they still count and I'm officially the best cook in the world.  Thanks Lily!

Feb 26 - Wednesday riding party at the north chapel.  Melissa with her best friend Rebecca.

Feb 27 - Sometimes being a twin pays off.  Hannah hurt her foot and Finn ran to help her off the floor, then walked her to the couch.

Feb 28 - Friday At Christmastime John Bevan Wright told us that we ought to plan a visit sometime when the kids could stay a while to work in his shop.  We took him up on it.  His daughter was visiting from Texas and we all worked on Bevan's little men.  The kids each sanded and finished a little man, they even got to choose the eyes.

After the Danish oil had time to cure we came back that afternoon to introduce the creatures to Bevan's collections.  After we got home the kids collected their previous men and all the wood toys we've made together and put them on display in...

"Bevan's and Dad's Workshop" rated 5 stars!
February was lots of fun.  Should have been cold and snowy but sunny and silly is okay too, I guess.
