October 2025 - Tearing apart the new investment and loving our neighbors.

10/3 Friday, we might not enroll in San Juan School District, but we'll still take their candy at the homecoming parade!  Afterall, we do pay taxes on 4 properties in town now. Melissa and the kids had fun.

That afternoon Hannah came to work with me at the rental and pulled out basically the whole pile behind her from the old pantry.  She sure is a hard worker.

10/4 Saturday - Between conference sessions Melissa came to help pull out the chimney, brick by brick.  Hauling 5 gallon buckets of bricks down uneven stairs was not fun.

CLOTHING!  There were stacks of old clothes in almost any "insulated" wall in the house.  We regret not stacking it all in a pile separate from the rest of the debris.

10/5 - Sunday between conference sessions we took a picnic hike in the canyon.

10/7 Tuesday - Melissa and the kids drove up the mountain to see the fall colors with Grandma Workman.

10/10 Friday - Pumpkin hunting.  Hannah wasn't about to give up her pick.

10/14 Tuesday - I have been taking so many days off to work on this project.  This afternoon Lily and Finn came to help too.  Notice how Hannah's Pile is no longer there? They removed it from the patio and put it in the master pile!

10/16 Thursday - Finn wanted to work, so I told him he could cut down a cherry tree growing right next to the house on top of the sewer line.  He did it!  Notice the stump on his left and the pruning saw in his right hand.  When he came in and said, "I'm done," I thought he meant he was quitting.  Nope, he did the job.

10/17 Friday - With Grandpa Jack passing away this year, Grandma Jack needed help with leaves.  Melissa and the kids had a fun morning in the front yard.  Melissa ended up bringing the Activity Days Girls to finish the back later in the month.

10/19 Sunday - My speaking assignment took me to White Mesa Branch.  Finn and Hannah came with me and they both gave wonderful talks. Hannah chose to share from Elder Kearon’s talk. They both actually chose talks that they remembered from General Conference a couple of weeks earlier.

Finn's talk started, "I’m Finn Bayless and my favorite talk from general conference was by Sister Tracy Y. Browning and was called Tune Your Heart to Jesus Christ: The Sacred Gift of Primary Music." He was a little nervous, but did a great job.

10/20 Monday - Our plumber Bryan Palmer rented a mini excavator to dig under the foundation (more like an 18 inch pile of rock) and let us have a turn. Lily is standing in the hole she dug with me while Finn is at the controls, ready to start his heavy equipment career.

Hannah was aggressive, as usual, with a new machine.

Even Melissa took a turn and seemed to have fun.

10/25 Saturday - Melissa and Grandma volunteered at a community event to tie yarn hair on crocheted hats for cancer patients.  They are making a Rapunzel braid.

10/27 Monday - The USU trunk or treat.  Finn is an army man, I'm a safari guide, Melissa an elephant, Lilian a cheetah and Hannah a peacock.

10/28 Tuesday - Carving Pumpkins with Grandma.

10/31 Friday - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  I had to work, so the safari came to me while trick or treating.
