August 2025 Summer fun and we become a "sports family"

Aug 2 - Saturday trip to New Mexico!  The Farmington Temple open house was going on, so we decided to visit the Four Corners Monument.  After living within a couple hour for 13 years.  It was fine, I guess worth a stop, if you're in the area. 2/5 stars.  We had fun, but it was mostly just about being able to shop for the same 15 "hand crafted" Native American crafts in all 4 states within just a few steps.  The temple was beautiful, inside and out.  It was fun taking the kids to see another temple. They behaved themselves so well, I was worried we'd spend the tour shushing and blocking pestering, but they felt the spirit and listened and enjoyed. We then stopped at the Three Rivers Brewery for a late lunch and headed home.  Aug 5 - Finn joined the Blanding Rec Soccer league.  He played on the LA Galaxy and they had a perfect season.  It was a challenge for him to learn to listen to a coach and to exercise more than ever before, 2 games per we...

July 2025 - Independence and Friends.

July 4 - Parade time!  The usual, candy, chats with neighbors and lots of fun.  After dinner that night, we went to the Melodrama with Rob and Mallory Lyman.  They came and spent the weekend of the 4th with us. It was fun to have friends over and talk, but the kids struggled with not having alone time.   Sunday July 6 - When we got home from church we couldn't find Goldie, but we found blood stains on the driveway and front steps.  After a few minutes she came to Melissa with a big wound in her front leg.  She'd been out while we were at church and someone shot her in the leg.  She must have been bothering other animals.  We got the bleeding stopped with styptic powder and pressure, then Melissa spent most of the afternoon snuggling her to keep her from licking it.  I took her to the vet the next day, they left the bullet/pellet in the leg and just gave her a week of antibiotics. Melissa loved how calm and snuggly she was all day Sunday,...

June 2025 Our 14th anniversary, fun and games, and FIRE!

June 3 - Tuesday morning was one of Hannah's riding lessons.  She is spending the summer learning with Nikki Safrit, and loving it.  This sleepy girl is excited to wake up early, when it is for riding lessons.  June 4 - Happy Anniversary!  I mean, enjoy some time with the kids at a library summer science lesson!  Melissa and I went to the temple to celebrate our 14th anniversary. We were there with several couples, all above 65 years old.  The sealer asked the oldest couple (in their late 80's) how long they'd been married, and it was only a few months!   They were 2nd and 3rd spouses, kind of funny. They performed the sealing of her mother to her father, who had died in World War 2. Then we went for Mexican food in Monticello.  June 7 - Saturday was Dawn Lyman's baptism and the kids were happy to go support her.  June 10 - Tuesday morning Melissa and the kids all hung out with Lynette and grandkids after Hannah's lesson.  Here they...
