The beginning of our summer vacation (Carlsbad Beach)
Our trip to the Carlsbad State Beach in California started
with a few days in Las Vegas. We spent
some time with Melissa's dad and stepmom Darlene. We went to the movies, ate
good food, visited a very productive community garden run by their Church area
and learned that Zoe can fit through a doggy door designed for a small dog. We
borrowed their camp trailer for our week at the beach.
After this trip I really started to love this truck, not sure it even knew there was a 24 foot trailer back there.
Las Vegas is approximately 4.5 hours from Carlsbad, CA.
However, with Vegas weekend traffic and a blowout on the trailer tire it became
a 7 hour drive. We arrived just before sunset, which ended up being perfect
timing... what a welcome. Of course I'm not sure Melissa noticed the sunset, she
was little distracted by the attack of the nieces and cousins.
We
settled into the beach routine very quickly.
This means a morning walk down the beach (or a run through the
neighboring multimillion dollar homes with Zoe for Andy), breakfast at the camp
with Jeremy and Trisha's family and Andrew, then hit the sand around 11.
Daddy/Daughter date on the rocks for Jeremy and Mya.
