South Carlsbad is always the best vacation! (August 2013)

South Carlsbad, CA has always been my favorite vacation.  My mom's family has gone since my mom was a teen, so she took us almost every year as kids.  I love the beach.  I love swimming and boogie boarding in the ocean, laying out in the sun, relaxing with a good book, playing in the sand, looking for shells and sand crabs, seeing dolphins surfing the waves, camping on the bluff, making s'mores by the campfire, playing games with family by lantern light, and falling asleep listening to the waves.  Since I loved it so much I had to take Andy there.  He thought that he wouldn't like it because he really doesn't care for swimming, but he loved it!!!

We couldn't take Zoe down to the beach, so we had to get a family picture above.  We plan on taking one every anniversary, but this was about 2 months late.

While we were in California we took a morning to go to the San Diego temple.  It was a lovely morning.

Here many of the adults are enjoying a book while Jeremy puts lotion on the girls.

I love that Grandpa Clift still goes to the beach every year!

Digging holes for the ocean to fill is always a must for the young ones.

Andrew and Andy relaxing in the shade.  I just popped in for a picture.

Since we took Dad's trailer, Mya and Ava slept on some of the fold down beds.  Eli would hang out there in the afternoon.

Zoe had to be on a short chain.  She had access to some shade provided by the bushes and a towel on her kennel.  We got a complaint from the rangers saying that she was barking and that we didn't leave her with enough shade and food.  We already fed her, and she is a dog.

This picture melts my heart.  I love it when my nieces or nephews snuggle up with my husband to play games or watch a movie.

Boogie boarding is so much fun.  This year some people struggled to catch waves, but at least they weren't tossing us around too much.

I insisted on being buried, so all the kids joined in to help make me a mermaid.  I believe Andrew was there to actually make the shape.  It was a little scary because they buried me about 2 feet under, so I couldn't even get out by myself.

They Mya jumped in to be the next mermaid.

I also loved hanging out on the hammock with Eli.  Love this big baby!

Enjoying the sunset!

Mya and Ava were a little scared of Zoe because she is so big, but near the end of the week Mya wanted Zoe to sleep with her.  This only lasted for about an hour before Zoe woke Mya up with a kiss, and we heard Mya screamed.

Zoe slept with us on the full sized bed that night, but Mya joined me in the morning when Andy was going to take Zoe for a run.

By the end of the week, both Trisha and I were nice and tan.  I loved spending the week with her.  We sure had a blast!  Love my sister so much.  She is my best friend.

The trailer was hitched, but we couldn't leave until we said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa Clift.

It was a great week!  I can't wait until we go again, hopefully with some kids of our own.

We drove back to Vegas to drop off my dad's trailer, and to stay the night at his house.  We got to see a lot of my family in one week, and we were going to see a lot of Andy's family the next week.
