March 11th...A drive through the country to the seaside.

When I thought of England, it wasn't the big city of London that my heart desired to see, it was the country and seaside.  We took a day off of touring London, and went for a day drive with Auntie Monica.  We were headed for Brighton Pier, but Monica drove the scenic route to get there.  I was in Love!  The trees and fields were beautiful, along with the beautiful homes.

As we were driving, Monica mentioned that the London Temple was nearby, and it was only about a block away.  We had to drop by, but didn't go in since we weren't appropriately dressed for the temple.  This is the temple where Andy's parents were sealed for all eternity.  We were very glad that we were able to see it.  We dropped by the visitors center and visited with some of the missionaries about the history of the temple.

Back on the road.  The houses with the thatched roofs were brilliant!

Then we stopped in Beachy Head for a little walk.  It was cloudy and quite windy, if you can't tell by the trees and my hair.  The scenery was absolutely amazing!

Beachy Head was the last point in Britain for the British air force on the way to Europe in World War II.  Here is a memorial to the air force.

All of a sudden the fields seemed to be filled with sheep and little lambs.  I guess we arrived just in time for lambing time.  I couldn't get enough of those little lambs.

We stopped for lunch at the Golden Galleon, and by the time we came out the clouds had cleared.

It was a beautiful, sunny day at Brighton, but it still wasn't swimming weather. I'm sure this is one hoping place during the summer.  We had a nice walk by the beach and on the pier.

This is what we would have looked like during the summer!  :)

Cotton Candy is called Candy Floss in England.  I was definitely sad that they were closed, but we did find a shop selling Brighton Rock (a candy stick with the words Brighton Rock on the inside).

We did make sure that we at least touched the English Channel.

This day was the reason I came to England, besides seeing family.  There is nothing I like more than a relaxing day in the country or on the beach.  (Don't worry, I got a few more days in the country.)
