September 2017. Mark's wedding in Ohio and Nana and Granddad in Blanding


9/1/17 We went looking for the original pond where the Bluff pioneers performed their baptisms. We aren't sure if we found it, but we had fun.

9/2/17 Ohio - Melissa and Trisha on their way to Mark's house. It was a surprise.  He didn't know they were coming for the wedding.

With mom away, we decided to learn to climb the rock wall at Visitors Center Park.  They did so well. When mom's not around to be cautious, we can do hard things. 


Also, while Melissa was away, she decided that I should build one of my models. I sent this picture to Melissa, so that she'd know what kind of fun she was missing out on.


September 3rd, Mark and Chrissy married at their home in Chagrin Falls after Luke's baptism at Chrissy's family church (Catholic).

Getting ready for church without mom means the TV gets to help. Nana and Granddad had to go home a day or two earlier. It was fun to have Sunday morning off to spend with the kids, rather than going to meetings. 


9/3/17 The nursery leaders suggested that I bring the twins to nursery while Melissa was away. 
This picture was a perfect opportunity.  In reality Hannah did fine and ran off to play with a train right after this photo, but this was the right photo to send to Melissa.


Finster didn't care where he was, as long as he had toys.

While the kids were napping, I decided to make homemade pizza. They were pretty happy for the surprise.

9/8/17 Mid-September is still summer in Blanding


Bedtime reading at 7:52 PM after a quick run.  It takes a conscious effort to keep my weight down.  Even after several years of weight loss, it is difficult to stay at goal. I guess it gives me a bit of empathy for my patients. Sometimes it makes me frustrated too, when others won't put in the effort that I know is necessary.


9/9/17. The 2nd annual San Juan Freedom Festival. We hosted most of the band this year in our AirBNB.  The headliner was Tim Gates. 


The kids loved it! They danced and stole treats from the Lyman's next to us and stayed up way later than they should have. 


9/11/17 Melissa decided to take the kids to the library for the first time.  Hannah probably thought she'd died and gone to heaven.

Short hair.  Sexy, sexy. What is this, my birthday?! 9/19... oh, almost my birthday. 


Happy birthday!  I'm now even older, but at least I got cake.  Melissa made me a nice Oreo cake and game night with friends.
 

So... guess who likes corn on the cob?


This guy!  He wouldn't give up the cob until he'd cleaned every kernel.  It was adorable.
 

Our lives are pretty fun. 


Thank you Blanding City for giving me an outdoor workout room. Nobody wanted to climb to the top of the slide, but being plopped halfway up was perfect. 


Sometimes when it is just a little "too quiet," it is actually a good thing.  A rare moment of the twins together quietly "reading" to themselves. 


We love this red blosom, one of Melissa's "desert landscape" plants.  Also Hannah is cute.


9/30/17 We are on our way to our next trip.  We spent a long weekend at Nana and Granddad's to watch General Conference and spend time with family before we went to New England for a 2 week tour.

We had a "CRATER" honeymoon than you!

We stayed in Midway, UT for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. Around our little Swiss get away, were all of these little crater pond things. You can see our little cottage in the background of this picture. On Monday we went to the Crater at Homestead. The water is warm and very blue. Many people go scuba diving here, but we just swam around. Ok, so I didn't swim too much. I more of just floated around. They make you wear a life jacket, which meant I got to just relax. I was so relaxed that I even look dead in this picture. We had a nice woman in a wheelchair take a picture of us. She took a lot more than one. She kept telling us to do something different. My Engagement Story

In order to tell the story of our engagement, I will have to first tell you the story of our first date. For those of you who don't know, Andy and I were set up on a blind date by my Aunt Mary and Uncle Fred (more Mary). We met on August 27th when he picked me up for our date. Andy was well prepared for our first date. He planned on going up to canyon for a picnic and walking around the falls. He even had picked up some yummy sandwiches, but I didn't know about that then. Well, it happened to be raining that day, so he gave me the option of going to this authentic pizza place. I chose that plan since it was raining. We went to the pizza place where I ate pizza with corn on it for my first time. After dinner he started driving me back home, and then he noticed that it had stopped raining. July 2025 - Independence and Friends.

July 4 - Parade time!  The usual, candy, chats with neighbors and lots of fun.  After dinner that night, we went to the Melodrama with Rob and Mallory Lyman.  They came and spent the weekend of the 4th with us. It was fun to have friends over and talk, but the kids struggled with not having alone time.   Sunday July 6 - When we got home from church we couldn't find Goldie, but we found blood stains on the driveway and front steps.  After a few minutes she came to Melissa with a big wound in her front leg.  She'd been out while we were at church and someone shot her in the leg.  She must have been bothering other animals.  We got the bleeding stopped with styptic powder and pressure, then Melissa spent most of the afternoon snuggling her to keep her from licking it.  I took her to the vet the next day, they left the bullet/pellet in the leg and just gave her a week of antibiotics.
