June 2020 Part 1: Melissa's Christmas Trip, Majestic Dude Ranch

Summer is getting real!  Using the kids' sprinkler play to rescue the lawn.

We pulled out the camp trailer's rotting counters to start over with custom epoxy counters.

Then it was our anniversary!  Holy cow!  Happy anniversary, we got dinner at the hospital and ate at the park.  Melissa is cool like that.

June 6th a giant hail storm hit.  Look at those ice chunks.  Our house would need a new roof, fence, outside lights, screens, etc.  The duplex would end up needing siding and several sections of roof metal replaced.

The siding on the back of the rental.

Melissa's design for the trailer counters.

Melissa's personal "Cinderello." Sometimes this kid loves to help.

Nana and granddad came to visit and take care of the kids.  I bought Melissa a long weekend at the Majestic Dude Ranch for Christmas.  Then COVID-19 started and it got pushed back a little from May to June.  Nana and Granddad braved the pandemic world and came to give us some time away.

Melissa was obviously in love with the idea of being at a dude ranch.

We went white water rafting, despite every fiber of her being shouting "NO!" She loved it.  The Animas river wasn't too high so it was a fun, safe trip.

Back at the Saloon for a well deserved root beer freeze.

We took a gruelingly paced hike to see the Mesa Verde ruins.  It was fun to have people to chat with on the hike, but also showed how it is not fun vacationing in a group.  You have to meet the defined schedule. Neat place, kind of like being back home, only you can't get as close to the ruins.

A little closer to the ruins

Appreciating the wall art panel behind us.

The intro/skill ride.  They had to make sure we could handle a horse.

Bullseye! That faceless fox was no match for Melissa.

We took a little walk up the road to wander around the reservoir.

And had fun playing with e-bikes.  I loved it, Melissa wasn't so sure about the sudden surges of power.

But she loved the fuzzy power.

We took a RZR up the road to the top of the mountain to look at the views.

Almost every activity required a guide.  Iain guided this drive and hike, so we let him take some pictures.

He was a Scottish professional photographer after-all.

The final night was a campfire, stories and karaoke. Melissa and I actually sung! Something Like That by Tim McGraw.  A beautiful midi version... we nailed it.  It was a really fun couple of days.  Great food, some fun fellow guests and just awesome to be away from the kids doing something different.
