September 2022, the rest. G-parents Aurich visit and Andy gets old

We got back from our trip and had a little harvesting to do. Melissa puts a lot of worry into the garden each year, and I put a lot of raspberries into my belly. I think that's a good balance.

Grandma and Grandpa Aurich came to visit for a few days. Finn loved having a buddy to build circuits with.

On Saturday the 17th we went to the reservoir to ride out rafts and grandma and grandpa's kayaks. Grandpa Aurich and I rode the kayaks. He pulled Lilian and Melissa in a raft. I pulled Hannah and Finn in the other raft.

Melissa and I took turns in the kayaks together and ditched the kids.  They have pedal propellers and were much easier to pilot than our little rafts.

Lilian's class went dino hunting on the Liechty's little train. They're a new couple in our ward, and coincidentally enough his younger brother lived in my ward growing up and was my cub scout leader.

Then I got older.  39, if Melissa is to be believed. Twix cake, chocolate zucchini cake with caramel frosting and twix bits.  Yum.  Also, stuffed zucchini, margarita French bread.

Kids at library activity.

Hannah doing her bridge at gymnastics.

Thursday the 22nd while trying to get the kids to come home from the Lyman's for dinner somebody found a garter snake in the front yard. All three kids eventually held it.

Melissa went to help Emily Laws set up the cabin for a girls night 9/23.  Then the kids all got their faces painted... not sure how that happened.

Saturday the 24th was Dutch oven days and also Andy's meltdown about something.  Not sure what, but the kids and I needed a break, so Melissa took them to the park and I stayed home and watched TV. Looks like they had lots of fun.

Big tire, happy grandparents.

Painting pumpkins while it is still hot and sunny... weird.

Snow cone time.

Melissa had a girls paint and sip night at the Law's farm. Emily and Mallory hosted it.  Everyone painted fall wagons full of pumpkins.

For homeschool, Hannah, Finn and Lilian were learning about trees.  They went for a walk, counted a hundred trees, used an app to identify the trees, and they collected leaves. Then they made pictures with their leaves. Hannah made a tree out of leaves and then made a picture of her and Dad next to the tree out of leaves.

Finn's art was more abstract.
