June 2024 - Our 13th anniversary and busy kids.

June 4, 2024 - Happy 13th anniversary Melissa!  This is a picture of Cali's sore on her hip.  It's official, we're old enough that we didn't celebrate our anniversary.  Melissa took this picture so she could compare it later to make sure the cat's sore was healing.

June 5 - Aunt Trisha's package arrived.  Birthday gifts for all three kids.

June 10 - We decided to celebrate our anniversary with a UTV ride/hike. Finn is holding a little yellow horny toad in is hands. Hannah was complaining most of the time.

The kids enjoying the ride back down the mountain.

June 13 - Melissa and Merry Palmer's last activity days was a tea party.  We made scones and clotted cream and Merry had a tiny tea pot for each girl to take home.

June 15 - one of the wards had a scavenger hunt which included "cream pie a high council member."  I took two that day.  We were at the pool so this one went over the fence.

June 15 - We were driving home from going out to eat.  I (Melissa) had read on Facebook that Diane Bradford's dog ran away the night before. (Andy and I minister to her and she is a neighbor.) I had the thought that I needed to take Goldie for a walk by White Rocks where is was last seen. The Holy Ghost was telling me that I would find the dog, but I had no clue how long it would take. Within less than 5 minutes I spotted Max. I couldn't get near him because I wasn't sure how Goldie would react. I called Diane and she was there within a few minutes with some help.  I had lost sight of Max because he did run away.  They saw him.  It took us about 10 minutes to catch him.  Diane started crying. She had been looking all day and gave up. She had assumed that he had died since he was out in the heat all day.  She was very grateful and told me that I helped restore her faith in prayer. I was very grateful that the Holy Ghost had used me to help her. It was a humbling experience.

June 19 - Melissa took over her Cassidy's "farm" for the weekend. Milking/feeding goats, collecting eggs and feeding pigs and dogs. The kids loved it, there were chicken and ducks and they all wanted to eat each of the eggs they collected. Our kids got to feed the kids.

June 21 - Melissa and the kids created a handful of dyes to color their wooden spoons before the beach trip, so they'd be easier to spot on the beach.

They used carrots, turmeric, raspberries, spinach, and food colors.  Then used the leftovers to tie dye hand towels.

Hannah and Finn participated in the 4H weeklong writing camp. They all came home with a binder full of all the kids' short stories.

June 24 - Monday at the pool.  It is fun when I get to go with Melissa and the stinkers.

Blowing bubbles in slime before bed.

June 25 - 4H nature day, a ranger came to talk about his job and all the equipment he uses.

June 25 - Melissa and our neighbor, Maci, were asked to plan a relief society activity.  The did a watercolor night and had lots of attendees.

June 26 - Finn's activity day leaders have a road train.  Who cares what the activity is when you get a ride home on the train!?

June 27 - At the library playing duck, duck, goose. The Bayless kids are definitely friends of the library!

June 29 - The raspberry plants were really productive this summer, but we were all pretty lazy about picking them. Mostly just went out Sunday afternoon to pick enough to put on desserts.  We decided to start collecting berries to make and sell jam.  The kids ended up earning $11 each from their jam.  It was fun, but not as motivating as we had hoped.  They still didn't want to go out and pick.

June 30 - Sunday morning cooked breakfast before church. Finn still had a couple of duck eggs leftover from taking care of the farm.  This boy has fallen in love with soft boiled eggs and toast soldiers.  I guess he got that gene from Nana.

After church we wanted to get out and explore.  So we had a picnic at Walter C Lyman and walked around Third Reservoir.  Of course the kids couldn't listen to "stay dry." so I followed them in.  We ended up catching a crayfish.

Melissa is always the motivator to get out and explore.  I'm grateful for her, or we'd just spend every day home locked in the dark.
