May 2024 - Nothing much, just birthdays, holidays, travel and exploration!

May 2 Lilian and Hannah ended their gymnastics season with the Show Off.

They've both really enjoyed learning.

We also celebrated Grandma Workman's birthday!

May 5, Sunday the power went out and STAYED out.  We actually went to Stake Conference in the dark!  Couldn't hear almost anything, but it was a fun/different experience.

By that evening, all the power was back and the twins had their spring recital.

Finn played a duet with his teacher Haven.  The duet was the Jaws theme!

I was able to see their performances, but then had to run to grandpa's to help him save his tarps.  A wild wind was trying to destroy the tarps over his green house frame.

5/7 - Melissa had a cyst on her hand. She had it drained and that led to a mass of pain, visit to the occupational therapist, diagnosis with carpal tunnel syndrome and a tiny tear in a ligament complex.  Then 4 months of braces and therapy.

5/10 - we invited the Lyman's and Rees' to dinner and a movie.  We ate at the ice cream/panini shop then watched Escape from Germany about the miracles which allows missionaries out of Germany at the opening of WW2.

Happy Mother's Day! 5/12.  Kids all chose garden decorations for Melissa.

Then we did crepes savory and sweet for dinner.

5/15 - We did a little culinary homeschool. Taylor Swift Sugar Cookies. The recipe had 9 seasonings/spices. So I prepped them all and then let the kids smell and look at them to try to match them all back to their containers as we made the cookies.  Good cookies.

5/16 - On the way home from piano lessons, Finn found a horny toad.

They named him "Yellow horny"

They all loved playing with him for a couple of days, before let him go in the field.

Even Melissa let him snuggle up a bit.

5/18 - Lily's 6th birthday party!

Gabby's Dollhouse party with balloons, lunch, dance, games, and friends.

Elida Numbers helped through the whole party.

5/21 - Then we headed to Great Grandma Flick's for a birthday week visit.  Grandpa and Grandma Aurich were finishing a trip so we got to visit them for a half a day.

5/22 - BIRTHDAY GIRLS! 91 and 6.

5/23 - We went to the cabin to play and help with clean up.

Finn and Hannah both tried driving the 4 wheeler.  Finn was very careful and slow and asked for help when he got nervous.

Hannah hit the throttle and shouted "woohoo!"  She might be a little too much like me.

5/24 - We hiked the Water Wheel Falls Hiking Trail.  We started the wrong direction down the river, turned around and never ended up reaching the falls. It was still a really fun hike along the river.

5/25 - obligatory porch photo!

5/26 - Sunday after church with Grandma, we drove down to Rock Springs to meet Heather.  It was about halfway to her place in Mesa.  We had a nice lunch, window shopped the rock shop and got a giant Strawberry-rhubarb pie for Grandma.  The kids had a blast with Heather, and Heather had the most awkward server who kept putting her hand on her should and joking/focusing on Heather.

5/27 - on the way home we stopped at the dino tracks spot on the reservation.  It was neat, some of the foot prints looked really cool.

Grandma sent her piano home with us.  I'm writing in mid-August, since we brought home the piano, the kids aren't using the keyboard anymore.  They really seem to enjoy having the real piano.

5/31 - We ended the month with a hike in Moab. Mill Creek Waterfall Trail was a a nice hike and everyone had lots of fun in the water.  Big group with a mix of Moab, Monticello and Blanding.
