February 2015, Prest-o, Change-o! No more pink bathroom.
Guess what?!?! We started a new project!
The goal is a bigger shower, no more pink tile and... that's it. Just that.
The old bathroom had a sink and tub space which lead to a toilet and shower room and a walk-in closet (pictured above and below). The closet would be reconfigured to make way for a 4x5 foot shower space.
We removed several of the shelf/drawer units.
While cleaning the closet I found this bumper stick my parents gave me in a birthday card a couple years ago. So I put it on the Rhino, it fell off during the snow later this month.
With February being Valentine's Day month and Melissa and I being madly in love newly weds we decided a trip was in order. So we drove up to Utah county for some romantic tile and shower shopping. Valentine's Day also happened to be moving day for my brother James' family. They sold their house and moved to a condo in Springville. I helped with the moving and Melissa and Mum entertained the kids with cookie making and stamps.
That evening Melissa and I went to Walmart for project and grocery shopping. In the parking lot I realized we weren't having a very romantic Valentine's Day. So I came up with a plan. Before our real shopping we would each take 10 minutes for a Valentine's present challenge. We separated in the store and picked a Valentine's Day selection, then we met and reviewed each others "gifts," laughed and had fun, put back the silliest of the items and actually bought a few things.
We ended up having a fun Valentine's dinner at Olive Garden (one of Melissa's favorite restaurants) with my Mum and Dad. Nothing like a double date with the parents to really show your dedicated to a loving relationship.
Then Zoe got kicked in the face by one of the horses!
So we went to the same after hours vet she visited on her first Christmas Eve. She was really lucky not to have any broken bones or serious injuries. A couple weeks of antibiotics and NSAIDs later and she was back to normal.
After coming home we started with the serious demolition. I knocked out the first half of this tile.
Melissa finished it up... then I got called in to work and she did most of the rest of the floor alone. Sorry honey!
The tub was surrounded by cinder blocks... why was the tub surrounded by cinder blocks!!!?
Mason and Kati are the best neighbors, they provided some much needed help.
And it snowed some more!
"The snow is nearly as deep a dog's arm pit, bound to be a cold spring." That's what the old-timers are all saying.
The wet and thick snow soaked the field we use as a dump (called "The Field"), so my truck carried around this load of trash for about 2 weeks.
Hours of labor and dust later, ready for construction to begin.
New walls.
