6/2/2015 Alnwick Castle and Chillingham Castle, our castle for a night.

We left Snake Pass Inn and enjoyed the scenery on the Snake Pass.  I was really glad to leave this inn.  It had a eerie feeling.  We were headed for Chillingham Castle.  Andy's cousin, Gillian, and family are friends with the son of Sir Humphrey, Max.  They got us a good deal on a night stay at the castle.  We were all very excited to get to stay in a castle.

We stopped at Alnwick Castle.  This is the castle that was used in Harry Potter.  Welcome to Hogwarts!  It was also used in an episode of Downtown Abbey.  We didn't have time to go in, but the guard did let us on the grounds to take a quick picture.

It is also know for its' beautiful gardens.  This is all we could see from the gate.  They had little elves at work in the gardens!

We stopped in town to pick up some food, since the castle wasn't going to have any food available.  We think some boys snuck out of Hogwarts.

We have arrived at Chillingham Castle.  It is actually supposed to be the most haunted castle in Britain.  Unfortunately we were too late for the Ghost Tour. (I was secretly happy about that.  Why would I want to go on a Ghost Tour in the same place that I'm staying the night?)

I did have a wonderful bellhop!

Here is the kitchen.

We did get to tour the gardens!  It was closed to visitors, but not to guests.  We had the gardens all to ourselves.

We got photo bombed by Bob.

We did find some time alone...sort of.

Then we found the secret gardens.

Janell touring the overlook.

I had to stop and smell the flowers.

Andy found some more toys!

I wonder if they shot roosters out of this cannon.

I needed a break after walking the grounds!  I was so in love with the garden!

Tracy, Bob, and Grandma shared this room.  They did have to set up another bed where I'm standing.

Andy and I slept in this room.  Janell slept upstairs in the living room.  Too bad I didn't take a picture of the pink bathroom that had a window next to the shower that went out into the hall.  Thankfully there was a picture placed in front of the window. I had a great night's sleep in this haunted castle, but Janell didn't feel the same.  However, she was sleeping by the fireplace and had to restock it with wood during the night.
