December 2022 Part 1 Legoland Pre-Christmas

December 2nd and we're already hanging out with Santa?  The Tree for All at the Wellness Center.  Finn went in for the snuggle?  Weird.

Sunday the 4th, posing with Grandma Workman

12/8 - Melissa and I only made it to the USU Christmas party this year.  We sat with the Jeppsen's and enjoyed a nice party.

12/9 was a daddy date for Finn.  French dip sandwich at USU cafeteria.  He loved it, probably ate 2/3 of the sandwich and dipped every bite.

Still crocheting like mad.  This time a dragon for Mya.

We had a couple of companion passes on Delta, so we decided to fly from Moab to SLC to San Diego for Legoland.  The Moab portion was cancelled, so we drove to SLC instead.  12/11 we opened a new box of duplos and Melissa had written a message, spread across several pieces.  "We are flying to L-E-G-O-L-A-N-D."  Hannah really got excited, but Finn just wanted to build.  It took him a while to fully internalize what we were planning.

12/12 it was snowing again, yup lets go to California.

After dinner it was sugar cube time.  The twins made their initial and Lilian spelled out her name.

12/15 we hit the road to SLC  then jumped on the plane.

It was weird being in California in the winter, the weather was obviously much better, but it was still dark at 5:31 PM.

12/16 we spent the whole day at Legoland.

They had lots of the Christmas decorations out, but hadn't started the holiday activities and characters.  It was wonderful.  The park was empty! Almost no lines or waiting.

Building racecars in the Ferrari area.

Melissa and Lily's personal flight.

Twin pilots.

On the boats Lilian required a partner, so she piloted with Melissa.

Finn had a blast steering into the bumpers.

And Hannah was the calmest boater ever.

Everyone was excited to hand out with the Lego Friends. Finn's spent his whole life surrounded by girls!

Lilian loved this go cart area.  She drove 3-4 times.

The twins drove on a bigger course and had fun too.

Selfie with the mural in the gift shop.

Christmas sith!

They had an aquarium as well.  It was a great end to the day.

12/17 we hit the beach. It was COLD, but it is always cold in Carlsbad.

Brave Hannah running into the waves.

Sexy beach girl.

We spent about an hour and had a picnic.  The best part was the toys.  Since it was winter, we couldn't find beach toys at any of the stores.  So we went to Walmart and bought plastic garbage cans and bamboo spoons.  They were awesome.  Way better than plastic beach shovels.  We brought them home and they'll be back to Carlsbad with us again next trip.

The beach was fun, but the hot tub and pool were better.

12/18 - Sunday we went to church then visited Old Towne San Diego and the church's old mission. Finn was called up in the Mormon Battalion.

We climbed the mission lookout tower... and Lilian looked "in"

Then back to the pool!

12/19 - back on a plane in the morning to return to Utah and an early Christmas celebration with Nana and Grandad.  A surprise benefit of the Moab flight cancellation.
